Hello Dear Readers
I am Writing this blog on the grounds of a task assigned to us by our Pro.Mr. Dilip Barad, to know more about the task Click Here.
The whole world is going through hard time , we all are suffering from the deadly effects of Covid- 19 pandemic. We all are house arrested because of it. We all are living in absurdity, we don't know when everything will be return to normal, how much time it will take to get everything back to normal. Schools, colleges, supermarkets everything is shut dawn because of this Pandemic. Everyday hundreds of people are dying because of it.
It is said that a writer is a great Observer whatever he observes it gets reflected in his writings. Today I am gonna write about a realistic writer who wrote about a deadly situation through which we are going today. I'm talking about Albert Camus, who wrote about pandemic of Plague in his novel, The Plague, the story takes place in the city of Oran where one bye one rats dies without any reason and one doctor named Dr. Rieux tries to know about the reason behind it and he comes to know about the deadly disease of Plague, and makes others aware about it and selflessly works to protect the people of Oran. The story is similar to today's situation of Corona.
Camus in Ten Minutes
Humanity, Human self- Centerdness VS Human Sacrifice :
In the novel Dr. Rieux, works selflessly to protect the people of Oran from plague though his wife was also ill during this time, Rambert first tries to escape from the situation but he chooses to live there in Oran to do his work with Dr. Rieux and dies there.
During this lock down and pandemic we have come across many people who are working selflessly to protect others from the deadly corona virus , there are doctors like Dr. Rieux who are working selflessly against this virus to protect the people from it. Even there are other people also who helps to provide food and daily routine things to those who are in need.
''Pestilence is so common , there have been as many plagues in the world as there have been wars, yet plagues and wars always find people equally unprepared''
Whenever something very bad happens even war or pandemic what we will do is we remember it for some time and forget about it, we get back to our normal lives as if nothing had happened.
Rieux knew that this chronicle could not be a story of definitive victory. it could only be the record of what had to be done and what ,no doubt , would have to be done again, against this terror.
This thought of Dr. Rieux makes us to think about so many questions.
#We will celebrate our victory and forget about it or we will learn from it and get our selves well prepared for future pestilences like this one ?
# we will become more alert and make our selves ready for this kind of horrible situations?
Science VS Religion , the question of God and religion in times of epidemics and calamities.
Religion and science always a controversial subject. Science let's you doubt and gives you solutions while religion tells you to accept everything without any question and doubt. whenever something bad happens people tends to run towards the doors of the god rather then finding the solution on their own . In the Novel The Plague, father Paneleux believes in God and tells that the pandemic is the punishment of people's sins. While Doctor Rieux tries to find the cure for the diseased. From the childhood human mind is shaped to never question or doubt the ways of god to man and to accept the things and situations as the way it is weather one is agree with it or not. God is considered as the almighty , most merciful but whenever something horrible epidemics or calamities happens and hundreds of innocent people dies because of it some questions emerges about the Existence of God.
#Is God Real?
#In every scripture God is considered as the most merciful so what happens to his mercifulness when hundreds of innocent people die ?
#The most hard hitting question is that why he lets all this calamities to happen if he is the protector of all mankind and universe ?
# If god has created everything so why he wants to destroy it ?
In a nutshell if we considers this book as well as other books written on this kind of pandemic situations we can get the idea of how to deal with this kind of situations. Pandemic literature teaches us so many things such as.:
Humanity to help others in the time of great misery and terror, Courage and patience to fight against any horrible situation like this.
