THE PURPOSE - T. P. KAILASAM #SEMESTER - 1,#IWE

Hello Readers,
Welcome to My Blog, today I'm going to discuss about The Purpose by T. P. KAILASAM.

Thanjavur Pramsiva kailasam was a playwright and prominent writer of Kannada Literature. His works are best known for Wit and Satirical Commentary on Society. His contribution to Kannada Theatrical comedy earned him the title "PRAHSANA PRAPITAMAHA", the father of humorous plays and he was also called "KANNADAKKE OBBANE KAILASAM"  one and only Kailasam for Kannda.

🔷MAJOR WORKS IN KANNADA 🔷

1). MAKALA SCHOOL MANA ALAWA,
2).SIKARNI SAVITHRI,
3).SATHAVANA SANTHAPA,
4). HANINABAL KANIRRANU.

🔷MAJOR WORKS IN ENGLISH 🔷

1). FULFILMENT,
2). THE PURPOSE,
3).THE BRAHMIN'S CURSE.

AFTER A BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF T. P. KAILASAM, LET'S DISCUSS ABOUT THE QUESTIONS GIVEN BY VAIDEHI MAM AS A TASK.

1). COMPARE AND CONTRAST ARJUN AND EKLAVYA'S CHARECTER.
➡.
ARJUNA
Arjuna is a KSHATRIYA born in upper powerful upper cast family. H is a price. Arjun is brave, arrogant and selfish. Arjuna believes in "KARMA SWARTHA".
Example :
Arjuna : "useful archer?" why Gurujee, I wan to become the greatest archer in the world.
This dialogue from the play shows Arjun as an arrogant and selfish prince. In old time Kshatriya were considered as the "Rakshak" (saviours) but here the purpose of Arjun is only to become the best ARCHER. ARJUN'S purpose was to be the best archer in the world.
EKLAVYA
EKLAVYA is a SUBALTERN born in a lower caste NISHADH family.
Example :
EKLAVYA : ( looking all around him) This does look like the place mother spoke of :" A wide vast grassy play ground with bejewelled and beautifully dressed handsome young princes at bow, sword and mace exercises... Being taught their lessons by a tall and noble looking Brahmana" Is how she described It! And It all fits in every bit!
HERE, we see that EKLAVYA is giving the description of the students at the asharam. He is amazed by their appearance. He says that his mother was right about them they are handsome and beautifully dressed. This shows his poverty. EKLAVAYA is believes in "KARMA ARTHA" .
For example :
EKLAVYA : The only way that I can save the deer and fawens is by killing the wolves.
His purpose was to kill the wolves and to save the animals.

2).WHAT IS SUBALTERN? WHO DO YOU THINK IS THE SUBALTERN IN THIS PLAY?
➡. ANTONIO GRAMSCI coined the term SUBLTERN to identify the social groups excluded and displaced from the socio - economic institutions of society in order to deny their political voices. "A SUBLTERN IS SOMEONE WITH A LOW RANKING IN A SOCIAL, POLITICAL OR OTHER HIRERACHY." In ancient times there was "VARNA VYAVASTHA" VARNA refers to four social classes in the MANUSMRITI.
EKLAVAY IS THE SUBALTERN IN THIS PLAY BECAUSE HE IS A NISHADH BOY. THE LOWER CAST IN THE VARNA VYAVAATHA.

3).WRITE YOUR VIEWS ABOUT EDUCATION SYSTEM IN INDIA WITH REFRENCE TO PAST AND PRESENT TIME.
➡ The education system in India is very poor. Education is considered as business. Education is our fundamental right but we have to pay donation to get an admission in a good school. No one takes a stand against it. You can find  10 coaching classes in a singal street in India.

SUPER 30 and HINDI MEDIUM both are the best movies which describes the current educational system in India.

3).IS DRONACHARYA AN IDEAL TEACHER? IF YES, THEN HOW? AND IF NO, THEN WHY? EXPLAIN WITH EXAMPLES.
➡.  NO,  DRONACHARYA is not an ideal guru, he is partial. He only teaches Kashtriya. A teacher must be free from Favoritism, prejudice and he must be liberal. Techer is a farmer who plants the seeds of knowledge in their students that lasts lifetime in their students minds. In the play we have seen that Guru Drona is partial with EKLAVAY. JUST beacuse he is from lower caste he denies him to teach archery.

5).WRITE SOMETHING ABOUT YOU EXPERIANCE LIKE EKLAVAY OR ARJUNA WITH ANY TEACHER DURING YOUR STUDY PHASE TILL NOW. (NO NEED TO MENTION ANY NAME)
➡ YES I DID EXPERIANCE LIKE EKLAVAY DURING MY COLLEH PHASE. I was a very studius and curious student so I used to ask so many questions to my teachers. There was a lady teacher who always used to frown at me whener I used to ask questions. First I was so surprised by her behaviour
Towards me. Again next day I asked a question and again she frowned at me. I was so confused coz I just asked her a questions. Everyday the same cycle happened. One day she spoke some lines from a gujarati poem, out of curiosity I asked her about the author of those lines she answers me like, "beta I don't know about the author, you have to find out about It on your owm". I said OK. Then again during a discussion I told my friend to tell her to first tell us the story after the basic idea of the story we can discuss about the topic deeply, she replied like, "I'm not here to tell you stories, Google It out by yourself". Her words "khauf bana rehna chahiye still echos in my ears". How can she tell that. I still think about her. I still don't understand why she was so harsh with me.
Maybe one day I'll find out.
THANK YOU.
