DAY -1

On the very first day Dr. Joshi talked about Bhasha (language),and Indian Criticism(VIVECHAN).

The Lessons We Learned Today :

What is Indian criticism? how it is different from western criticism.

Western Criticism focuses on the function ,while Indian Criticism focuses on process .

                                   Western Criticism = Function
                                   Indian Criticism = Process

RASA SCHOOL :

BHARATMUNI , the pioneer of RASA SCHOOL introduced 9 Rasa's in his NATYASHAHTRA , it was used through the fifteen hundred years of Sanskrit literary thought as the bedrock of literary theory. Weather it was ABINAVGUPTA , MAMMTA, or VISHWANATH, discussing poetry and literature during the subsequent centuries , they inevitably turned to BHARATA's formulations as the polar star of Indian aesthetics.

9 RASA and BHAVA :

1]રતિ / ક્ષુંગાર ( Erotic)
2] શોક / કરૂણા (Pathetic )
3 ] ઉત્સાહ / વીર (Heroic)
4] ક્રોધ / રૌંદ્ર ( Furious )
5] હાસ /  હાસ્ય ( Comic)
6] ભય / ભયાનક ( Terrible )
7] જુગુપ્સા / બીભત્સ ( Odious )
8] વિસ્મય / અદ્ભૂત ( Marvellous)
9] શમ / નિર્વેદ / શાંત (Peace )

And to memories all 9 Bhava's and Rasa's Vinod Sir tought a sanskrit shloka .

                      शृंगार, करुण, वीर, रौंद्र, हास्य, भयानका।
                      बिभत्सादभुतशांतच्य नव नाट्ये रसाः  स्मृता।।

Vinod Sir also talked about prominent critics such as :

1] Bhatt Lollat
2] Shri Shankuk
3] Bhattnayak
4] Abhinavgupta

DAY -2

On the second day we learned about , why we need aesthetics ?
and we also learned about DHAVNI SAMPRADAY . ANANDVARDHAN . The DHAVNI theory of ANANDVARDHANA considers suggestions , the indirectly evoked meanings .MAMMTA introduced 3 SHABDASHAKTI'S :

1] અભિધા : સીધો અર્થ મળે
2] લક્ષણા : નજીકનો અર્થ મળે
3] વ્યંજના :સીધો અર્થ મળે પણ અન્ય અર્થ લેવાનો

For the better understanding of this concepts Sir gave examples of Dushyant and Shakuntala famouse characters of Kalidas's Abhigyanshakumtalam,  Sir also gave example of The Chairs, an absurdist tragic farce play by Eugene Lenesco.

DAY - 3

On the very third day we learned about DHVANI SAMPRADAY .
ANANDVARDHANA , the pioneer of DHAVNI SAMPRADAY  introduced three kinds of DHAVNI:

1] વસ્તુ ધ્વનિ (લૌકિક) કેન્દ્રમાં વિચાર હોય છે

2) અલંકાર ધ્વનિ (લૌકિક)કેન્દ્રમાં અલંકાર હોય છે.
ઉદાહરણ :
              "ચાંદો નીચોવી અમે વાટકા ભર્યા"

3) રસ ધ્વનિ (અલૌકિક)   કેન્દ્રમાં ભાવ હોય છે.

DAY- 4 & 5

On fourth and fifth day we learned about :

It was a great experiance , Vinod sir was so friendly and his teaching method was so cool and simple . He is a great example of a good teacher. His main focus was teaching for understanding not only for exams . I think that's thing which makes him a good teacher first. All five day's were full of knowledge . Everyday sir used to asked us about previous day's teaching .Sir gave examples from Sanskrit literature to Hindi  poems, to Gujarati poems . I am thankful to our HOD Dr. Dilip Barad   for organizing the expert lectures .

                                                                    THANK YOU....
